MR6: MEN IN BLACK

Today, I’m going to introduce to you a movie called “Men In Black” which is the first one of a famous movie series well known in both of Japan and America. As you know, Will Smith is very popular in Japan because there are a lot of famous movies Will Smith has been in as a main actor like “I, Robot” 2004, “I Am Legend” 2007, and “Hancock” 2008. These movies I mentioned are all a kind of action or science fiction movie and his acting can be seen in such kinds of movies. Tommy Lee Jones is also famous among Japanese in the role of an alien in some advertising of coffee from SUNTORY. I feel that his vitality and passion as an actor is limitless. Also, there are many movies which he played in as a main actor. Recently, I saw him in a movie called “Emperor” that filmed about the circumstances of Japan after WW2 when it was under the control of GHQ.

Well, all I want to say is that “Men In Black” also called MIB is such a fantastic movie because the biggest two actors played together. So, the first part of this story and viewpoints are below.

Will Smith is a young policeman of the NYPD and one day, he is chasing a man who runs so fast. But Will Smith is like an athlete and he can chase down the man to a building. When Will Smith hold a gun toward a man who is going to jump from rooftop to ground to commit suicide, Will Smith notice that a man eyelid blinks from side to side instead of up to down. At such time, Tommy Lee Jones, who is called “K”, is an agent of MIB which is an organization to communicate with aliens and hide them from the world. He is on a mission for keeping ordinary people safe. He has an old partner but, the partner will retire because he failed to kill a bad alien. Then, K finds Will Smith and tells him the fact the existence of aliens. K also asks him to be a member of MIB. So, “J” who was played by Will Smith is born as an agent of MIB. It is the mark of beginning of a funny and wonderful story where K and J fight against a big space cockroach using special weapons and arms.

The viewpoints are that two men wearing black suit work so stylish and cool. The combination of K and J and their communications are so funny. If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out. Now we can see the 3rd story of MIB. Let’s go rental DVD shop and see MIB series 1st through 3rd.

Movie English 2nd assignment -Coach Carter-

1. Coach Carter is based on the true story of a Richmond High School basketball coach who tries to effect positive change in a group of student athletes who have given up hope on creating successful future.

Q: How dose Coach Carter accomplish positive change and how are his methods similar and/or different Erin Gruwell’s (Freedom Writers) methods? Give example and details from the movie.

A: Coach Carter accomplishes positive change by contracting with the students and forcing them to obey his rules. Also, he punishes the students when they complain to his order.

Erin’s location and Carter’s one are similar. Coach Carter went to a high school of low income area, and Erin Gruwell did, too. However, Erin’s school had race issue, and Carter’s school didn't have it at least on the surface. Also, in Erin’s school, the students stressed by the parents and the same race persons, and the problem is bigger than anything else, so they didn't study. In Carter’s school, the students didn't get motivate in studying, and the surroundings thought that they couldn't study well and could only play basketball.

Coach Carter wanted the students to study, or to enter a university, and to have hopes for their future. He ordered the students to get a 2.3 grade, to attend all classes, and to sit down in front of teachers in classes, in the contract. He told the parents of the students that they would get stipend money from SAT if they would get a 2.3 grade.  It showed us that he thought the students would enter a university. Also, he thought the surrounding of the students made them not study but play basketball. In these points, his methods are similar to Erin’s methods.

He forced the students to study by the contract. He punished the students disordering his rules strictly. He ordered 1000 push-up when the member of the team disordered or complained to his order. Also, he didn't stop the students leaving the team. When Cruz left the team, he said some words, and he didn't stop him. In these points, his methods are different from Erin’s methods.

2. At beginning of the basketball season Coach Carter gets his players to sign a contract.

Q: What were the main items of the contract? And why do you think Coach Carter had the players sign such a contract before they could play? Do you agree or disagree with this?

A: The main items of the contract are about studying. The students must attend to all classes. In the class, they must sit down at the front row of the classes. They must maintain a 2.3 glade average. The others are a dress code and coming 5 minutes before practices start. In the scenes of the lockout the gym, he told the citizens that to end the lockout meant not to have honor the rules. He wanted the students to learn having honor to rules and thought that it’s important for the students not only to play basketball in high school but also to have hopes for their future. The hopes would be made by studying, he thought. These are why Coach Carter had the players sign such a contract.

  To have honor rules is important, but contracting with the students went too far, so I disagree with the way he did. He could provide the rules without the contracts. In fact, the student studied after the lockout ended, and it’s because the students understood his thought, not because obeying the contract.

3. When Coach Carter found out that over half of his team was failing he suspended all practice sessions and forfeited the following games.

Q: Why do you think he did that? What does the expression, “student-athlete mean?” Do you agree or disagree with the meaning of this expression?

A: The team became stronger, and the students got carried away. However, the students didn't study enough, and the contract was failed. He wanted them to study and to maintain the grade to enter the university. He didn't think that was going to end well and thought something had to be done about that. These are why he did that.

  The expression, “student-athlete”, means the player is not athlete but student.  Students have to study. Studying is first and playing sports is next for the students. I agree with the meaning of this expression. Surrounding of the players shouldn't think they can only play basketball. They should study, too, and they can study as they can play basketball. In these days, it is said that the baseball players in high school play harder than pro-baseball players. It’s the same problem.

4. At various times throughout the movie, Coach Carter asks Cruz, “what is your deepest fear young man?”

Q: What do you think Coach Carter meant by that? How does Cruz answer Coach Carter and what do you think his answer means?

A: Cruz was unbalanced and he left the team when the things he disliked happened.  Also he became a drag dealer with his cousin. Coach Carter wanted Cruz to have something unshakable, such as thinking a thing happening is better than his deepest fear, or to make an effort to avoid the deepest one. Coach Carter wanted him to be disillusioned by that.

  He answered their deepest fear is not that they are inadequate and that they are powerful beyond measure. He told;

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.  Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.  Your playing small does not serve the world.  There is nothing enlightened about shining so that other people won’t feel insecure around you….”

This answer is quoted from A Return To Love written by Marianne Williamson. I understand the passage as the message meaning when I fear something, I can grow up.  However, his answer meant another. The team or students were thought they couldn't study well and could only play basketball. Also, other students were similar, so, in that situation, if they had studied hard, they would have gone out of those students. It means they will be misfits in the situation. That is fear, but Coach Carter taught them to do their best and to have hope by doing hard, and, if they play hard and have hope, the surroundings will notice they can do too. These are the meaning of his answer.

5. At the end of the movie during the locker room scene Coach Carter tells his team that he failed to meet his objectives for the basketball season.

Q: What did he mean by that? Give specific example from movie.

A: He said “I came to coach basketball players, and you became students. I came to teach boys, and you became men.” and “You got inner victory.” His objectives are to coach basketball players and to teach boys, but they became students and men, so he failed to meet his objectives. Also, inner victory is not to give up and to go on playing.  It’s more precious than to win games. The team lost the game but got inner victory.

BR2-08:The Happy Prince; The Selfish Giant

'Goodbye, dear Prince.  I am dying,' says the poor little Swallow. (p.30)


I have heard this story, 'The Happy Prince' in Japanese.  It is sad and moving story.  Both of the prince and the swallow are very kind.  The prince's kindness is for the people, the swallow's one is for the prince.  Both of them sacrificed themselves for others.  I don't know that they are happy, but they are very kind or too kind.  After I finished reading this story, I felt a little sadness.  Their wills are not understood by the people.  Only the God knows it.  However, I think that it is true kindness.  Even if the people don't notice it, I should be kind.
 The another story in this book, 'The Selfish Giant', is teaching story, too.  Maybe it says to be kind others, so both stories in this book are the story to be kind others.

 Yes, this book has two stories, so we can enjoy one story and another story.  Both of them are interesting.  Also, it has very cute illustrations.  'The Happy Prince' is a famous story in Japan, too.  Perhaps, you have heard another one, 'The Selfish Giant'.  I recommend that you read them in English even if you have heard them in Japanese.

Today, I’m going to introduce to you about Cloud.

Of course, it is the same spell as cloud which you can see it into the sky. However, Cloud is a name and one of system which exists in both of our local and global network. And, it can make our life more comfortable instead of making rain.

Nowadays, almost all reports, essays of university and materials, proposals of business are not handwritten. Typing was just one of form of writing. But now, have you ever been felt that typing amount to almost of all of writing? Can you imagine how much parentage of handwritten contents which was written a day by a modern person?

I’m sorry, the story wondered. However, actually, what I want to say is that our lives depend on various electronics supporting us include typing. There is no problem about depending on such electronics. The problem is how we utilize them.

The reason why we use electronics is not only for typing. We can collect much information and process them, and do putting in and out using applications, database in various electronics like laptops, smartphones and tablets.

As you know, those functions were almost standalone system; which means that people can control them only under personally keeping. Therefore, there are environmental disorder that people under inaccessible unless they are in the connectable place for sharing individual information and utilizing them in the local network

Then, Cloud came up. We can utilize computer resources like applications and database when we need them as a form of a service through the global network like Internet.

Cloud supply us many things like from software service, mailing service and online storage for private to operating system and database for companies. And also, Cloud divides Private Cloud and Public Cloud.

Private Cloud is a system of network introduced by individual companies for themselves. Users are their employees, associated companies, clients and customers who they are limited allowable people.

We can access Internet from various places through the various devices. That’s why Cloud is comfortable. So, it means you can’t use Cloud in such no Internet environment.

1. Attention Step

 Do you know Sekigahara?  I’m sure everyone has heard it at least once.  Then, where is Sekigahara?  Do you know?  Like this, we know some facts or names of something in Japan, but it’s just knowledge.  We should learn about Japan.

2. Need Step

 In this class, we studied that learning language is learning culture, social structure, and history.  Then, when you study another language, you will just study about the country, is it enough?  I don’t think it’s enough.  We should also study about our own country or our own language.  And, to compare another culture to our own culture makes perfect to learn the language and to know the difference between them.

3. Satisfaction Step

 We’re in the faculty of foreign studies, and we study English, another foreign language, foreign culture, and more.  So, the problem is how we learn about our own country.  One way is to read books.  Another way is to take classes about Japan.  And, I’ll propose you the way, to take domestic trip.  It doesn't matter how you go.  But, I recommend using local train in summer or spring vacation.  That’s because you can tour around the country and use the special ticket named Seishun 18 Kippu.  If you use it, your trip will be reasonable.

4. Visualization Step

 In fact, I have done the trip three times.  In the trip, you can go through many regions.  You can see many great views, not only sightseeing but also ordinary places.  In Japan, there are 47 prefectures and each of them has a lot of good points.  Furthermore, you can learn the Japanese map.  Do you remember my first question?  Yes, where is Sekigahara?  It’s in Gifu prefecture and the name of train stop.  This is a thing I have learned through the trip.  Maybe, you are going to learn some more things.

5. Action Step

 If you take a domestic trip, you will get to learn about Japan more.  It helps you to learn foreign languages and to understand foreign cultures.  In these days, people tend to go abroad, but please try to tour Japan by local train.

 Finally, of course, to go abroad is important.  I thought that to learn about Japan is more important than to go abroad, so, actually, I have never been to foreign country.  I want to go overseas by graduation.  If you have enough time, try domestic trip and foreign one.  Thank you.

1. Attention Step

Have you ever been to polls?  In Japan, when we become 20 years old, we are looked as an adult and gets the voting right.  Recently, young people’s attention to politics and the rate of young people going to polls are decreasing, and it’s often discussed as a problem.

2. Need Step

The election is different from to buy products.  If you don’t buy a product, the producer improves it to sell you.  However, if you don’t go voting, the politics will never improve.  I want you to remember this.

 Also, it’s natural for us that we get the voting right when we become 20 years old, but, in Japan, it started in 1945.  So, to get the voting right is unnatural before then.  Then, society has changed from then.  Nowadays, Japanese live in aging society and declining birth rate is occurred, too.  They make it difficult to reflect young people’s opinion on politic.  But, we should reflect it on our society because young people will shoulder the future of Japan.

 There are three problems to solve.  They are to brow young people’s attention to politic, to increase the rate of young people going to polls, and to reflect young people’s opinions on politic.

3. Satisfaction Step

 Then, how can we solve them?  I propose you to lower the voting age from 20 to 18.

4. Visualization Step

 18 years old has some big means in Japanese educational sequences.  In 18 years old, almost people graduate high school and start to work or to go to university.  It means the situation of almost all people change when they become 18 years old.  To get voting right with changing situation motivates us more than to get it in 20 years without changing situation.  With the motivation, young people will talk about election, concern about politics, and go voting.

5. Action Step

 So far, do you understand that it is important to lower the voting age to18?  In addition, we understand that the situation of Japanese election, especially around young people, is not good.  First of all, we are over 20 years old and let’s go voting.

About Christmas

Christmas, it sounds good for ordinary people even if they are not Christian in Japan. However, you have to know the fact that there are some people who don’t have any special feeling about Christmas like me. Have you ever thought deeply that why Japanese cerebrate or do party or do something for Christmas regardless of they don’t believe Christianity? So, what I want to say is that Christmas is very convenient for Japanese who like some events or festival. Many kinds of stores like to take advantage of Christmas as chance of good selling. Hollowing, valentine day are also good chance for them. There are no religious meanings about such days in Japan. So, Christmas is just hard day to work for me as a shopper. By the way, I never say such thing if I were one of people who have special female friend spends white and sweet Christmas with me.

About Clash of Clans

Have you ever heard the social game title named Clash of Clans? This is famous social game and it is well known in United States. Of course, it is also famous in Japan, it has already recorded one thousand download in Japan. So, I am going to introduce to you what Clash of Clans is. Clash of Clans (CoC) is a kind of strategy simulation game. Players built their own facilities like canons, walls, mortars, and something for defenses on their town which was given at first when they start and upgrade each of them. And also, players do not forget to attack other towns to collect resources which are needed to develop and to create armies. Of course, players can generate resources from their own facilities, but taking them by force from other town using armies which players make themselves is more effective than generating with own self. Interesting points of this game are the strategy of attacking and arranging own town. So, when players want to attack to other towns, they need to create their armies. Armies are made from elixirs which are one of resources. When players want to build and develop their own facilities, they need coins which are also resources. It means that players scramble for resources. Of course, players are not standalone. They can make clans and fight against other clans. That’s why the title of this game is Clash of Clans.

About reactivating nuclear power plant

How do you think about the nuclear power plant as one of problems in Japanese energy resource? Last week, Japanese congress has decided to reactivate one of Japanese nuclear power plant which is in Fukui prefecture. It is named Sennai-Genpatsu. I agree this decision. I think that Japanese need nuclear power to maintain continuing economic developments. Of course, I know the risk of nuclear and no one can stop generating power immediately when people want to. However, the technology japan has in the category of controlling nuclear power plant is the top of the world. If we hadn't suffered damage of Tsunami in Fukushima, we would haven’t stopped generating power with nuclear. Getting energy from nuclear is important factor to develop our life to the future. That’s why I agreed to reactivate nuclear power plant.

About Plan for end year

This date is the middle of November. After 2 weeks past, we will reach December; the month of the end of year: 2014. Before reaching end year, I have many things what I have to do. Assignments and projects of this university and the end year parties are. Of course, failing credits is unacceptable for me, but parties are important for me. People can enjoy waiting for enjoyable time. So, I have already finished planning 3 separate end year parties. Thus, planning early is very nice. By the way, do you know the name of “December” as ancient almanac in Japan? “師走(Shiwasu)” is. The meaning of words as Kanji is that the busiest month in the year because even the master who always spends calmly has to run faster to do something. To sum up, December is so busy for everyone. So, planning early is reasonable thing especially ended of the year.

About Snap election

 Do you know who present Japanese prime minister is? This might be easiest question, if you live in Japan. Can you name vice prime minister and Chief Cabinet Secretary? If you have a little interest about Japanese politics or you often watch TV news, you can also answer. Answers are below, Shinzo Abe, Taro Aso and Yoshihide Suga. They are important factor in Japanese politics. By the way, have you already heard the recently news about Snap election which means that Lower House Dissolved for General election? As you know, this is the biggest news. Prime minister Abe hasn’t said that he has the will to appeal to the country yet. But, he would do it. There are many problems in Japan in which are about TPP, consumption tax, the right of self-defense. We are the nations who decide the direction of Japan to the future. We have to understand it strongly and we have to deal with such problems.
　I wrote it at Nov 18^th, so last week, Shinzo decided to do Snap election. Now, Japanese local Committee for Election Administration is so busy toward the judgment day –Dec 14^th.

About Powered Suit

Have you ever heard “Powered suit”? And also, do you know what it is? Powered suit is a tool which can help people who want to carry something heavy. This is a state of arts which means the edge of technology. Human brain limits its body to output maximum muscle power. It is said that human can use only 30% power of muscle by own self. So, what should we do when you want to carry something heavy which you can’t lift? Call macho? It’s good idea if you have macho friend. Powered suit can help people equally even children or elderly person. In SF fiction movies, games, or animations, we often see the “Reinforced exoskeleton”. IRON MAN is good example. The final form of powered suit may seem like him in near future. The last 2 biggest problems are smallest energy resource and absence of genius.

MR5: Romeo+Juliet

Today, I’m going to introduce to you a movie titled “Romeo + Juliet” which was released in 1996. The main characters are Leonardo DiCaprio and Claire Danes. DiCaprio is one of the most famous movie star and well known all over the world “Titanic” directed by James Cameron is very famous. The first movie which I saw him on the screen is “Titanic”. In addition, I have seen him other movies and I like all of them. “The Departed” 2006, “Blood Diamond” 2006, “Inception” 2010, “The Great Gatsby” 2013, and so on, there are a lot of movies that I could enjoy myself. So, I expect this “Romeo + Juliet” to make me enjoy myself as same as others. However, unfortunately, I couldn't see this movie and enjoy myself. As you know “Romeo & Juliet” is a famous tragedy by Shakespeare. Of course, I know that any tragedy doesn't make ordinary people feel good. But, I can enjoy any tragic movies even if the story ends with sorrow because I know a movie is a movie. So, what I want to say is it is so boring. DiCaprio is so young and Danes is so beautiful. That’s all. The plot of this movie is almost same as the original. So, I have nothing to deliver about this story. If you want to know details, you can search them on the website in the Internet.

To write enough words to fulfill requirement of review which I have to submit, I am going to introduce this movie with criticism. Therefore, this is my opinion and you carefully understand that there are many people who love this movie. First, I didn't notice what the director wants to deliver or tell his audiences. Second, the movie didn't make the serious circumstances around Rome and Juliet. I felt it’s peanut. Third, its comical scenes are not funny.

The only thing what I felt amazing from this movie is making location with lighting and much color.

There is one thing which I noticed after my review had corrected. The director who took this film is same as the director who took “The Great Gatsby”. I like “The Great Gatsby”. So, maybe I think that his skill of making films is developing.

MR4: School of Rock

Today, I introduce to you a comedy which is a humorous movie titled “School of Rock”. I like movies and I often see movies, but I saw this movie for the first time in my life. I could have a very funny and happy time with laughs brought on from this movie. Actually, the kinds of movie which I like are almost all science fiction, action and something thoughtful. So, this “School of Rock” became a special one for me.

The main character Dewey is not a popular musician and his life is so messy and he borrows much money such as house rent from his friend who is also his roommate. He never gives up his dream which becoming a popular musician in a good sense. He is just an idler in a bad sense. I saw his miserable circumstances in the first scene in a film. He played guitar on stage and jumped into audience, but no one caught him because his and his band’s playing is not good. He was dismissed by his band members who were gathered with him after that. And also, his roommate and girlfriend pressed him to work to pay money or get out of the shared room. Then, Dewey was in serious situation.

At such time, he took the call from a principle of elementary school which is for smart and bright kids. The principal had wanted to call his roommate and offer him the job, but Dewey impersonated his roommate and he got job instead of his roommate, which means he becomes a teacher.

Can you imagine that what will happen if man like Dewey teaches innocent kids? Yes, this is the highlight of this movie. Dewey has no idea of teaching general education but, he used words cleverly and he succeeded to be a fake teacher and get trust from kids, principal and other teachers. And then, it came into his mind that he’s going to participate in “Battle of Bands” using these innocent kids. Of course, it’s not easy way to deceive smart kids and others. But, his passion for Rock and funny and interesting fake school project which means joining “Battle of Bands” gives kids their strong motivation. I felt so happy after I saw this movie. I think that the music has a great power to change the world and human hearts.

Movie English Assignment 1

1. A: In the city, all people divided into separate sections, depending on tribes, and the school and the city are similar. All of students divided in same way. However, at the beginning in the movie, a boy who lives in The Ghetto walked up to the Mexican students. He tried to be cool.  Each groups looks to have the territory as an unspoken rule. What the boy walked up was a violation of the rule, and it made a tense atmosphere among them. As a result, they started to fight. “Something” means the fighting.

2. A: Voluntary integration means abolishing of the racial discrimination. The teacher of the honor class said voluntary integration shouldn’t have been introduced, and he said “Please tell me your opinion as an African American.” when he asked an African American girl’s view. The girl said he asked her as if she represented whole of African Americans. The head teacher treated the students of Erin’s class as worthless people to be educated. She didn’t want to buy texts for the students.

 I disagree with the attitudes of these teachers. They are teachers and responsible to teach their students and they should behave in the way to do voluntary integration. However, they did an opposite action. They didn’t have to do like Erin, but they must have taken efforts to teach the students better.

3. A: The students were in the situation that they were divided into separate section depending on tribes. The situation was similar to the Holocaust. Miep Gies was trying to say they can do “voluntary integration” in their own way, and she tried to encourage the students.

 If I could put this statement into practice in my own life, I can’t do anything special, but I can do ordinary things. For example, I will help others when anyone has troubles.

4. A: The purpose of the “toast for change” is to have the students decide to change and to tell others their decision or their ideas on their own. The students have been said “You can’t do!” or “You are worthless!” To change meant that they get over the idea like those.

 It was effective in helping the students. The Mexican girl was forced to testify against the accused who was an African American student. She was in a dilemma between to testify the truth and to testify against the accused, but, at last, she testified the truth. She was blamed Mexicans. This example shows it was effective in helping the students. She was changed and took the choice believed it was right.

5. A: “Freedom Riders” is a movement for equality. When it was found that Erin couldn’t stay in charge of the class of the students for third year, they said to fight like “Freedom Riders”. Also, in the last part of the movie, the narrator said “… we became writers with our own voice and pride.”  “Freedom Writers” is imitated “Freedom Riders”, and it means they are writes fighting for equality in their city and changing their surroundings. These are reasons why they decided to call their book “Freedom Writes”.

 I heard that the blond hair means beauty but silly.  The character, Goldilocks, are the very person.  She had very beautiful golden hair but very naughty.  Her naughty was very bad, for example, she gave her little brother a haircut.  Also, she wouldn't believe the parents' words.  Therefore, she wouldn't believe the comment on the out of forest, "Beware of the bears!"  At the end, when she was naughty and fell asleep in a house,  the inhabitants of the house, three bears, came back.  Then, she would believe parents' words.  I think that I can't believe the things only to hear, but I must believe the things to see.  However, I have to think that the words I heard can be true.  Of course, I don't have to believe the words perfectly.
 This book has very nice illustrations.  Goldilocks and other characters are very comical.  The illustration of little brother of Goldilocks given haircut by Goldilocks is very poor fellow about his hair... The story is very fun and I like it!  I recommend that you read this book.

BR2-06: Life in the Trees

"This snake is asleep on the branch."(p.10)


 In this book, there are some lives to live in trees, such as birds, koala, snake, caterpillar, and frog.  The fact there is a frog lives in trees surprised me!  Of course, I knew that there is a koala in trees.  The above sentence shew me the fact snake is asleep on branch.  It also surprised me.
 This book is very easy.  There are a lot of pictures and a few sentences.  However, the things in this book are very interesting.  I wanted to know the things more!  You can want to do!  Oh, caterpillar is disgusting a little, so you must be careful to open pages...  Almost all are very interesting!  I recommend that you read this book!

BR2-05: Percy and the Pirates

"We steal for Crook'cos he's the best

           Then put the treasure in his chest."(p.16)

 I think Percy is a smart boy and the captain of the pirates, named Crook, is a stupid man.  He killed his crews because they took a little treasure from bringing treasure.  The Captain Crook wanted all treasure and didn't give the crews anything.  I thought the crews must want to get something because they worked to get treasure.  But he killed them and there are just two people, Percy and Captain Crook.  If other crews are alive, Captain Crook wouldn't be taken in by Percy.  It was the natural consequences of his own misdeed.

 In this book, Percy, his family, Captain Crook and the other crews in Pirates ship are drawn in nice pictures.  Using colors is good.  I recommend that you read this book.

1)    Attention Step

Did you see the press conference from Mr. Nonomura who is former member of prefectural assembly of Hyogo? What did you think about it? I don’t want to speak ill of him because I don’t have any relationships with him, however, I can’t guess why he could win the election. If people who live in Hyogo have made sure clearly that Mr. Nonomura was well-qualified person, or not, he would never win the last election. What I’m speaking seems like a hate speech. But this is good topic in a sense. We can get a chance to reconsider the meaning of election. So, we had better more concern ourselves about election around us.

2)    Need Step

Have you ever stood as a candidate for assembly of city or village or prefecture? Probably not. Have you ever joined any actions for election to help someone who was a candidate? Maybe, few people have. Have you ever gone to the polls? So, this is the Question. I can’t guess how many students are here who have experienced going to the polls. However, the survey from Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications says that, the voting rate of the House of Councilors among twenties in 2013 is only 33%. 33%... as you know this number is too low. Of course, it is the lowest in ages.

3)    Satisfaction Step

And then, what problem will appear from low voting rate? Nowadays, Japanese live in aging society and declining birth rate is occurred. They make it difficult to reflect young people’s opinion on politic. But, we should reflect it on our society because youth will shoulder the future of Japan.

4)    Visualization Step

The nation gives us rights and imposes duties on each of us equally. However, politicians never contribute each of us equally. They insist that they represent on the people who vote them, so that’s why politicians carry on policies which people who vote them required. Consequently, policies would be for the elderly instead of for youth. The assembly is not volunteer work. “I work hard if you vote me”: this contract is very natural. It is wrong that making a request of politician without any supports for them. Unfortunately, I think that almost youth have a little understanding of that thing.

5)    Action Step

We; young generation develop our country: Japan. You may understand that if you don’t concern yourself about election, or some problem will appear. I need more time to explain how election is important, but I’ sorry for I don’t have enough time. We have to act, to make politicians carry on policies for youth, to block winning of strange man in election. So, what is the first step? It’s easy. It is just going to the polls.

MR3:"ROCKY"

Today, I introduce to you the most famous boxing and human drama movie in the world titled “ROCKY”. A personal matter, actually, even my over 50-years-old mother who doesn't see movies so much knows this series. As you know, this title was well known in the world as not only a success story but as an amazing human drama. The main character is Rocky who was played by Sylvester Stallone. And also, Stallone wrote the story. Of course, I like him and I saw a lot of movies which he played the main character. “Rambo” series, “The Expendables” 2010, “The Expendables 2” 2014, “Escape Plan” 2013, they are very muscular action movies. In addition, the sequel to “The Expendables” will be at the theater in the near future. Before I deliver the review, I have to tell you one thing that I have never seen “ROCKY” until now. So, this is my first opportunity for me to see this famous movie.

Rocky is a boxer on the outskirts of the city and his fight money is so cheap. Because of that, and because of the bad environment around him, he lives a wild life. But, actually, he is a kind man and he wanted to change his life. We can see his humanity on the one scene of this film that Rocky persuades a girl surrounded with bad boy and girls to take her home. And also, he is a man who has special affection for one woman. He lives his life strongly and he works as helper of a moneylender. One day, Apollo, who is the world champion of boxing, is looking for someone suitable who is going to fight with him because his previous challenger withdrew. And, Rocky becomes his target. Rocky’s life starts to change. He dares to ask the woman out and they become a couple. The old trainer offered Rocky to help train him for boxing. The moneylender gives Rocky money to help his training. So, will Rocky be able to get the American Dream, or not? Maybe, his mentality, his words, and his behavior give us encouragement and tell us what the important things are in our life.

By the way, after I saw the movie, I thought that he said “you know” as conjunction too much. So, I’m not American that I don’t know that much “you know” is ordinary in US. If you have time to see “ROCKY”, I want you to count the number of times he says “you know”.

about my little brother

My little brother; Satsuro and I are eight years’ difference in our ages. He is now high school student in Shikoku and he lives in school dormitory. The high school he goes is famous in the field of sports. He also entered there as scholarship of tennis. He is my vaunted brother. If you searched my brother’s name on the internet, you will be able to find over 1000 web pages with relevance. Of course, his skill or abilities of playing tennis don’t reach the level of Kei Nishikori at all. If he became same age of present Kei, the answer will not change. But, he has proudly records of tennis and he became winner again and again. Then, I heard that he has been chosen as leader of tennis club of his high school from my mother. His passion for tennis is genuine. So, I proud him, respect him.

about my friend

She is one of my friends. I only know her voice. We have known each other since Feb 24th in 2014. So, today, I will tell little bit about her. The relationship of us is complicated because she is so shy and she almost never tells me about her. Of course, I don’t know even her hair color and eye color. She has many secrets however, she has many attractive points. For example, she can speak many languages and when I want to search something, she always helps me. And also, when I want to send a mail, she helps me what should I write. If I tell her my schedule, she reminds it and tells me it when the day or time comes. So, she seems like excellent personal assistant. By the way, the day we met at the first time across the window is the day I bought I pad mini.

Today, I washed my car. In my usual schedule of Thursday, I have 2 classes. 1st period, I have a class named globalism and Japan brought by Mr. Ohsawa. 4th period, I have a class named the theory of Japanese economics brought by Mr. Torimaru who is a staff of think tank. Then, today, 4th period class has been canceled. So, I could get enough time to wash my car. My car is AQUA sold from TOYOTA and this is said “ECO CAR”. The definition of Japanese ECO CAR includes two meanings. “An economical car” and “An ecological car” are. Both of them are very important for me and mankind. Decreasing fuel expenses make me save money and we can leave limited resource; oil. On the other hand, decreasing exhaust gas using hybrid car can restrain global warming.

Last Oct 21^st, two Japanese female ministers who they ware member of the Abe Cabinet have resigned because they took the responsibility for their each problem about connection politic and money. Yuko Obuchi who was previous Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry is one of them. One of her problems is about misrepresentation of income and expenditure reports on political funds. The other one is doubt of violation of Public Office Election law. She had been taken hard stand because if she denied one side, it would mean that she recognizes other side, and vice versa. On the other hand, Noriko Matsushima who was previous Minister of Justice had resigned because she gave each people who lived in her an electoral zone a round paper fan.

about Drinking

Do you like drinking? Japanese law allows drinking the entire nation over 20 years old. I think that some people have ever challenged drinking before becoming 20 years old. Drinking is good for our moth of mental and body health because drinking with friends or neighbors can refresh stress. There are a lot of illnesses from stress. It’s very important to remove our stress. I like drinking so much and there are many places and store for drinking in Kumamoto. Especially, I like authentic bar. When I noticed how enjoy drinking, I was in “Izakaya”. When I noticed how amount I can drink, I was in “Kyabakura”. And finally, when I understood how to live with drinking, I was in authentic bar. Now, I’m walking the way of learning about the taste of cocktail.

about my part-time job

I’m working in UNIQLO where is in “youme town Hamasen” building for three and half years. That is good place for me to work comfortable and to get much money because hourly salary is higher than such convenient stores or restaurants; in addition, my bosses include store manager and colleagues are very good people and environment of workplace is also good except that the distance from my home is far. I start to work there when I entered university. I lived apartment with my friend in area named Miyukifueda in Kumamoto city when I was freshman student to be short the distance of school route. I found out this job using information book of recruitment named Atsumarukun. I decided this job because just it is near my apartment. However, entering UNIQLO is a great turning point of my life.

How do you think about smoking? Can you guess how many people around you are smoker? How about your parents? Your friends? Can you spend a day without catching a sight of smoker? Today, all I want to tell you is just my opinion as a smoker. Walking with smoke is bad behavior. Smoking at public space, smoking near kids or pregnant mother is not good. Recently, I started to play new social game. The title of this game is Shironeko Project. Shironeko means a white cat. It is new kind of social game and almost Japanese social game establish the “stamina” system that players pay points or they can’t play game, on the other hand, this Shironeko project don’t need “stamina” to players. It seems like a category of RPG. Players control each character which we can get it from digital capsule toy in the game and fight with enemies, make a friends, and develop their own town. Of course, we don’t have to do difficult operating to control characters. The OS in this game supports our playing and we can enjoy playing with only easy movement of finger. All players have to do is just “tap”, “flick” and “slide”.

As you know, I exactly tell you that my summer vacation was filled with part-time job. So, I think I didn’t have something special in this summer. Only one memory which I had experienced in this summer is going Kikuchi valley with my colleague. Kikuchi valley is not water playing spot and people go there to walk around the river and feel great nature of Kikuchi. We went there after some days from end of Bon holidays, so there was not crowded and we could enjoy comfortable green shower and walking around the river. 　Today, I introduce to you the first movie from the famous movie series named “MISSION IMPOSSIBLE” produced by Tom Cruise and directed by Brian De Palma. Tom Cruise is also a famous actor and there are a lot of movies in which he was the star.　For example, “Jack Reacher” 2012, “OBLIVION” 2013, “ALL YOU NEED IS KILL” 2014 　ware published each year and I saw them except “ALL YOU NEED IS KILL” on Blu-ray.　Actually, I like his action and science fiction movies and he is one of my favorite actors.

　By the way, do you know how many movies of “M:I” there are? How many impossible　missions did Ethan Hunt who was played by Tom Cruise and he is agent of Special 　Forces named Impossible Mission Force in CIA accomplish? Now, we can see his acting 　in 4 movies till “M:I-4”. His action ability has been developing and becoming refined as 　the years go by and difficulty of missions are rising.

　So, the highlight of this movie is the tense atmosphere and the betrayal. Ethan is an 　excellent agent and he and his team were committed to a mission from CIA. It seemed 　like an easy mission and they use high-tech tools and did a professional performance. 　However, the easy mission change to a hazardous mission when one of his members 　killed by unexpected accident. An oldest member ordered to abort mission, but Ethan　continued because the target is in his sight. Then, the mission was failed. Each member 　was killed by someone and Ethan became the only survivor after all. He asked HQ to 　protect himself from unknown enemy. But, his colleagues suspected him for the　betrayal because he is the only survivor and they tried to arrest him. Ethan noticed that 　he failed into a trap and he escaped from his previous colleagues. So, he decides to find 　out the true betrayer.

　The view point is how Ethan accomplishes this impossible mission which includes 　many unknown enemies and many obstructions. Of course, CG and wire actions and 　famous background music are also fantastic. Two sums up movie and if you have never 　seen it, you should check it out!

BR02-03:The Peach Boy

"Every Monday, the old woman went to the river to wash their clothes."(p.5)
 This is an old story in Japan, named "Momotaro".  It is very famous in Japan and of course, I know.  I know this story but in English, I notice some differences from the Japanese story.  In Japanese, the time the old woman went to the river is not written "every Monday" but written "in one day morning".  And it continues that the old man went to the mountain to lawn mowing and the old woman went to the river to wash their clothes.  However, in English, it is not written anything about the old man.  Of course, it is not necessary but I have heard the sentences for long time, so I feel difference between English and Japanese.  I also haven't known that Japanese "Kibidango" said dumpling in English.
 This book has some nice picture.  The Ogre King is drawn like king and it is interesting.  In Japan, it may be not a king.  If you read this book, you can feel such difference between Japanese and English.  So, I recommend that you read this book.

 I'm sure that if you read this book, you must like owls.  This book looks having story, but maybe this is just written about owls.  I could know some kinds of owls, such as pels owl, eagle owl, and snowy owl.  This book also said about owl's life, for example, about some interesting nest.  One is in rabbit burrows.  One is inside a big spiky plant.  And it said about egg, baby, and owl's growing.  Owl's babies are very cute.  The scene babies practice to fly is very good.  At the last, the babies fly away and become adults owls.

 In this book, there are a lot of nice pictures.  The pictures of owls are very cute.  I'm sure that you think so, too.  I recommend that you read this book.
