Today, I’m going to introduce to you the movie named “INDIANA JONES
and the RAIDERS of the LOST ARK”. This title is
one of famous movies from the “INDIANA JONES” series
directed by Steven Allan Spielberg and this is the first of movie of the series in 1981. All series are adventure movies and we can see
fantastic and mysterious adventures in places
almost we don’t know or have never seen. It was released in 1981 and in those days, Japan was experiencing a bubble economy, in
addition, I and my friends, even the 4th grade student,
weren’t even born yet. So, I watch this movie 35 years after it was released.
The main character Jones who was played by Harrison Ford is a
professor of archeology in a university in the United
States and he is also an explorer. The summary of story is below. In the first scene, Jones and his party are in
the jungle and they’re looking to find
treasure of the local tribe. Jones faces betrayal by one of his party members and also the ancient traps of a dungeon. However, after he
overcomes those obstructions, he can finally get the
golden statue.
But, his mishap is not over yet, he changes bagged sand he prepared
before he went into dungeon to get the golden statue because
the final trap is activated with trick of using weight. It seems to be successful, but weight of the sand instead of
golden statue is not enough. So, he has to escape from dungeon
because the final trap activates. He can escape from there
but, he is robbed of his golden statue by his nemesis. The man who takes Jones’s statue controls the people of the native tribe and he
orders them to kill Jones in their local language. Jones run
away and boards an airplane quickly, and then he returns to his home country. Those are the introductory part of
the whole story.
A couple days later, Jones gets request from the investigating
section of the US army to research the “ARK”
that the Nazis are looking for in Egypt. To find the “ARK”, he rides on plane and going to meet a woman who has an important key item to
help find it.
After I saw this movie, I thought that many
people died because of grotesque things like guns, traps, and other factor. We
should not let children easily to see it. But, story and action scenes are so
fun. Harrison Ford is such a nice and cool guy. I’m surprised
